I Love Photography :)

Last Saturday was Sofia's big day : birthday celebration and baptism.  Good chance for me to give my new 50mm 1.4 lens a workout. This was the first event where I actually set all my own controls (aperture, white balance, etc) on my camera. I have sooooooo much to learn, but boy was it fun! I really like how some of the photos came out. Thought they deserved a spot in my blog for later...

Nine More Days....

Oh my goodness. In just 9 days (really 8.5 at this hour) we will be at Walt Disney World for the first time ever.  Am I excited? Over the moon excited. I just cannot wait. The best part? Joe is making me wait to tell the children until the day we leave. Yes. I did just say "the day we leave." Eleven weeks ago I was certain I could not keep this secret that long. (I am not a good secret-keeper....some of you know that about me :) Now, I think I can do it. Actually, secretly (see, told you I can't keep secrets) I'm glad Joe is making me wait to tell them .  Their little faces will be worth it when they see the mouse ears I've ordered with their names embroidered on them!

Ice Skating at Campus Martius

Last week Joe and I had a very nice date downtown :) We had dinner at Mexican Town and then went to Campus Martius for some ice skating. It was so much fun! We hadn't been ice skating since before we started dating! It was a little wobbly, and Joe's ankles took a beating, but we had a great time. The atmosphere was so awesome, too! There was music and lights and fire bowls and people making s'mores. What fun! Our first date of the new year was an awesome one!

Cub Scout Winter Campout

This weekend Joe and the boys were with Mason's Pack 290 at Camp D-Bar A for cub scout camp. They had a wonderful time, sledding, doing archery, learning about recycling, sitting around the campfire, and even enjoying a night hike! Andrew got to go, too, even though he won't officially be a cub scout until next year, and we are so glad that he was able to attend! They love scouting!

Bella and Mommy Weekend

This weekend my boys are all out of town, away at the Cub Scout Winter Campout.  So, that leaves the princess and I at home.  We have had a very busy time so far! We saw Beauty and the Beast with Sarah and Hazel yesterday.  SO neat! Bella loved it! I loved watching her love it! It was also Hazel's first movie, and it was in 3D (my first time for that!)  We had dinner together after, too.  Today, Bella and I went to Sofia's 8th Birthday bash at Arts and Scraps. Neat place. Bella loooooved the crafts and the "shopping" afterwards.  We came home for a quick hour and then went to Sofia's baptism, and I got to play photographer. So neat.  Bella was tired and crabby by the end, but perked up in the car. Then it was off to Costco for some supplies for our dinner tomorrow with our neighbors. We had hot dogs for dinner at Costco, played a bit at home, read books in her new playhouse (and freshly cleaned and rearranged bedroom :) and then I tucked her in.  I sure do love this little girl.  I miss my boys terribly, but at the same time I am relishing this chance to just enjoy her.  She really is a sweet little girl and I am so thankful for her!

Sweet Moments :)

Sometimes it's not easy being a Mommy.  Sometimes there's more dishes and laundry and toys to pick up than time, and you can't find the library book and the left glove and the right shoe...and school started five minutes ago.  Sometimes you're up all night long with a toddler/school age kid who just wants some extra attention becuase they don't feel well, and you can be so tired that you forget where you are.  Sometimes you (I) flip out over the smallest thing (i.e. the aforementioned left glove...) and then feel like the world's meanest person.  Sometimes it's not easy.

Then there are these moments:
When my little Bella twirls in front of me, and says, "Mommy, do you like my dance?" and then smothers me with kisses...

When my little Andrew tells me that I am "the best Christmas present ever!" and "the beautiful Mommy he always dreamt of", and then I tell him he has a heart of gold and he says that I have a heart of pink :)

When my David asks his karate instructor if he can lead the class to bow out and then does it right, and looks right at me to see if I saw, and has the proudest, shiniest smile ever. And you just think, "He's so confident and I helped make him that way!"

When I don't feel great and lay on the sofa and my little angels rub my feet and hug them.  "All better?"  "Yes, indeed!"

When my little Bella sits on the sofa and says, "Mommy, do you want to 'nuggle me up?" "Yes, indeed!!"

These moments make it more than worth it!

I am so thankful for these beautiful children.  I am so blessed to be their Mommy, and I love them so much! Thank you, Lord, for the moments like these that make all the hard work worth it! You are so good!!
