Fire House Field Trip

Andrew's class got to visit the Woods Fire Department, and since it was scheduled on a work day for me, Nana got to take them. They had a very nice time, and Andrew even got to pretend to drive the truck (and so did Bella for that matter!) Preschool rocks!

A Big Surprise!!!!!!!!!

So, we were on a date, and walked past the pet store, and there was this doggie in the window. He was so sweet, and sleeping, and on sale! And I wanted him! Actually I really think he is the same doggie I played with there in December! Well, he was still 500.00, and Joe said (correctly) that we agreed to sleep on decisions that were that expensive. So we did, and the next morning (Sunday) I told Joe I had dreamt of that little puppy, but that I didn't think we should spend the money on it. Later that day he said he had to run out to pick up some boots for work. He was gone forever! He called me on his way home, and I asked him if he got his boots. "Nope." "What?! You've been gone two hours almost. How could you not have gotten your boots, honey?" "Well, it was the boots or this furry thing sitting next to me in the truck" "You bought him?!?! Oh my goodness, I'm going to feed the kids now. They're going to freak out for the rest of the evening and not want to eat!" That's what the conversation went like :)

When Joe got home, he brought in a bag of puppy food and put it on the counter across from our three kiddos. "I brought you guys a surprise," he said. "What is it?" "Dog food!" "Daddy! We don't eat dog food!" "Well, you can eat it or you can feed it to this.." and he unzips his jacket to reveal a five month old shi Tzhu puppy...my doggie in the window :) Well, from there it was just utter pandamonium! We have really been enjoying George Washington, and I'm happy to say that we've had him two weeks now and he's all housebroken and working on "Sit". Hooray!!!

Our new puppy!!

George Washington...given his name by David, who just finished learning about the presidents in Kindergarten :)

Leprechaun Trap!

For St. Patrick's Day, David had the optional assignment of creating a Leprechaun Trap to catch leprechauns at Mason (apparently there's an infestation! :)  It was a lot of fun, and Andrew was happy to help.  Daddy and David took the trap to school and the leprechauns did leave David some gold coins in his trap.

Playdate with the Gotshaws :)

We had such a nice time playing with Eli and Addy a few weeks ago.  They are such sweet kids! And it was so nice for me to be able to catch up with Marcy!  It's always such a treat to have a time for just hanging out with another Mom!  Here are some pictures of all the little cuties!

Dating Anniversary

February 26, 1999...the evening of our first date.  Every year we celebrate our beginning.  This year we celebrated with Natalie and Tadj, who ironically, started dating on the same day (though there remains some debate amongst them as to what constitutes a real "date" :).  We had a very nice dinner at Waves together in St. Clair Shores.  It's so hard to believe that Joe and I have been dating for 12 years!  We still have our "date night" every week, and have only really missed a few (mostly right after adding a new child to our family :).  We look forward to it every week and it has been such a blessing to our marriage.  I'm so thankful for my wonderful husband...my first date, and my last date! I love you!

Now that the test is done, it's time for the Belt Promotion ceremony!  What fun! The boys got to go on stage and have their belts replaced with new white ones with a single purple stripe!  It was very exciting and we are so proud of them!! The promotion itself was so inspiring that the boys are constantly playing with their karate moves now, and have every intention of earning their black belts :)

All the boys are tired by now, Andrew especially

All done! David had to pose just the way Shaun did in his photo on the wall.

I love this face!!

Yay!!!

The boys have been taking karate lessons for well, almost a year now I guess.  Recently they became eligible for belt promotion for the first time.  There was a whole list of things they were going to be tested on, and they even had to attend a pretesting class to help prepare.  We were very proud of them.  The test was       L  O  N  G ...about 45 minutes!  They did great, though, and were both promoted.  So were A.J. and Grayson, the other two boys from their class who tested with them!  Andrew did get very tired during the test, and at one point it was so evident to me that he was mentally just not even present anymore.  Afterwards, Joe and I were talking to him about staying focused and  I asked him what was he thinking about during his test.  He replied, very matter-of-factly, "Cyclops!"  When I told him that it was important that he focus his mind on what he was doing, he said, "Mommy, I tried, but all these superheroes were flying around in my head!"  My little guy is definitely all boy, and a very funny four-year-old one, at that! Hilarious!  Good job boys!!
